People who live out of state who have loved ones who were killed or are sentenced to death in NC are also welcome. The goal of the group is to provide an opportunity and support for those who wish to use their voices of experience to end the death penalty. Twenty years later\, we gather to remember the lives taken by the death penalty and to affirm a different future for our state.\n         \n\n            Join the NC Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty for an interfaith service and vigil marking 20 years with no executions in North Carolina. The evening will include music and liturgy\, followed by a candlelit march to Central Prison to hold vigil for the 43 people executed in North Carolina’s modern death penalty era and the 123 people currently living under a death sentence.\n         \n\n            Grounded in a shared belief in human dignity and the value of every life\, this gathering welcomes people of all faiths as well as people with no faith tradition.\n         \n\n            Light refreshments will be provided. DESCRIPTION:Every Monday\, community members gather outside Central Prison in Raleigh to stand in peaceful opposition to the death penalty. Led by members of our coalition partners\, Catholics for Abolition in North Carolina and Amnesty International Local Group 213\, this vigil honors and uplifts all North Carolinians on death row. \nThe vigil is open to everyone\, regardless of religious affiliation. Whether you come every week or just once\, you are welcome. \nNo RSVP required. Signs may be available\, or you can bring your own.
