There will be a clemency panel providing death row exoneree perspective on this very urgent issue\, and we will have postcards on hand (with postage provided) for you to write\, decorate\, and send to Governor Cooper explaining exactly why YOU feel he must use his commutation power to clear the row. DESCRIPTION:We are very excited to be hosting a Racist Roots screening and panel discussion at the UNC School of Social Work on Tuesday\, March 26th from 12:30 to 2pm! “Racist Roots” is a powerful 25-minute film that reveals the North Carolina death penalty’s deep entanglement with slavery\, lynching\, and racism. Following the film there will be a panel discussion and Q&A. Panelists will include NCCADP Executive Director Noel Nickle and NCCADP Lived Experience Coordinator and NC death row exoneree Alfred Rivera. The event will also include a call to action to write a postcard to Gov. Cooper calling on him to commute all NC death sentences. This is a free event and all are welcome!
