DESCRIPTION:Every Monday\, community members gather outside Central Prison in Raleigh to stand in peaceful opposition to the death penalty. Led by members of our coalition partners\, Catholics for Abolition in North Carolina and Amnesty International Local Group 213\, this vigil honors and uplifts all North Carolinians on death row. \nThe vigil is open to everyone\, regardless of religious affiliation. Whether you come every week or just once\, you are welcome. \nNo RSVP required. Signs may be available\, or you can bring your own.

DESCRIPTION:You are warmly invited to a screening of Racist Roots\, a 25-minute film that uncovers the deep entanglement between white supremacy\, racial terror lynching\, and North Carolina’s death penalty. \nFollowing the film\, you will hear from Ed Chapman\, who was exonerated in 2008 after spending nearly 14 years wrongfully convicted on North Carolina’s death row. This conversation will be moderated by NCCADP’s executive director\, Noel Nickle\, and will include time for Q&A. \nHosted by Raleigh Mennonite Church\, this event is free and open to the public. Racist Roots is a project of the Center for Death Penalty Litigation. \n\nWhere: Raleigh Mennonite Church (in the same building as Church of the Good Shepherd)\, 3rd Floor\, 121 Hillsborough St\, Raleigh\, NC 27603 \nWhen: Monday\, May 18\, 6:30–8 PM \nParking details: Free parking is available in the open air lot at the corner of Hillsborough St and Salisbury St\, just across the street from the church.
