SUMMARY:Racist Roots: A conversation about NC's death penalty and a Jewish response
DESCRIPTION:The evening will use the powerful film Racist Roots as a context for panel discussion followed by Q&A. Panelists will include Julia Millar\, an anti-death penalty organizer guided by her Jewish values; Alfred Rivera\, a Muslim who spent 2 years on NC’s death row before he was exonerated\, and Frank Goldsmith\, a former civil rights and capital defense attorney and leader in the Asheville Jewish community. Noel Nickle\, NCCADP’s Executive Director will moderate the panel. \nIn addition to NCCADP\, co-hosts for the event include: Congregation Beth Israel\, Congregation Beth HaTephila\, Carolina Jews for Justice\, and the Center for Death Penalty Litigation\, who created the Racist Roots film project. This is a free event open to anyone to attend. However you are asked to register here so we can plan accordingly for snacks.
