SUMMARY:Racist Roots Screening and Panel Discussion at Good Shepherd United Church of Christ in Cary\, NC
DESCRIPTION:NCCADP will host a screening and conversation/ discussion with three Raleigh faith communities on Sunday\, November 13th\, at 4 pm with dinner to follow. Racist Roots is a film based on The Center for Death Penalty Litigation’s online project\, RacistRoots.org. This powerful 25-minute film explores the NC death penalty’s deep entanglement with slavery\, lynching and racism — and inspires people to join the movement to transform our state’s criminal legal system. It includes the voices of advocates\, artists and directly impacted people. Noel Nickle\, director of NCCADP\, will facilitate the conversation\, and Andre Smith will share his personal story as a father who lost his son to homicide and his work to transform our criminal legal system. This event is open to the Good Shepherd UCC\, Cary First Christian Church\, and Covenant Christian Church congregations.
