NC Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty
Committed to ending the death penalty and creating a new vision of justice
The Cape Fear Community College Feminist Alliance and the Nixon Leaders Center present this special event on the origins of North Carolina’s death penalty. The evening will include a screening of Racist Roots, a 25-minute film created by the Center for Death Penalty Litigation, along with a spoken word performance by Nick Courmon and a panel discussion moderated by NCCADP Executive Director Noel Nickle. Panelists are Daquan Peters, founder of LEX V (Lived Experience Voices), Kimberly Cook, professor and director of the Restorative Justice Collaborative at UNC Wilmington, and Alfred Rivera, an exoneree from NC’s death row. Event is free and no RSVP is required. Sponsored by NCCADP and the New Hanover County NAACP.
