NC Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty
Committed to ending the death penalty and creating a new vision of justice
Join us as we kick off a week of events to commemorate the 16th anniversary of North Carolina’s last execution. We will hold vigil outside Central Prison to remember the 43 people who were executed between 1970 and 2006, when litigation halted executions in NC, and the 136 people who still sit on death row. This event will raise the voices of people most proximate to the death penalty, including people currently and formerly on death row, and those who have lost family members to murder. Together we will say, “Never again,” and create a new vision of justice.
Gather outside the gates of the prison at 5:30. Rain or shine. Parking available either in the Boylan Heights neighborhood or in the gravel lot on Hunt Drive in Dix Park. If you have questions about this event, contact Kristin Collins, kristin@cdpl.org.
