Jean Parks will be a featured guest at our Racist

Jean Parks will be a featured guest at our Racist Roots film screening at @centraltolife in Asheville this upcoming Wednesday, May 8th, and will respond to our audience's questions.

Jean's sister, Betsy Rosenberg, was murdered in Raleigh in 1975. Jean is shown here holding a photograph of Betsy taken by Jean's husband Art Grand. Jean believes the man who served more than 35 years for Betsy's murder was innocent.

Jean is a member of our Commutation Working Group, and for almost two decades, she has participated in efforts to release North Carolina from the burden of having a death penalty system.

She spreads the word that she and many other murder victim family members believe the execution of a human being cannot bring justice or healing.

We look forward to being in Jean's company next week, and hope you will join us as well!

We will be continuing our 2024 series of Commutation Community Conversations IN ONE WEEK in Asheville at @centraltolife

We will be screening Racist Roots starting at 5:30pm and Jean Parks, who lost her sister to homicide, will respond to Q&A afterwards. The evening will conclude with an opportunity to write postcards to Governor Cooper. Doors open at 5pm for refreshments.

This event is free and open to the public! Parking is available on Church Street and in lots behind the church on Buncombe Street
