20 Years With No Executions: Beyond the Death Penalty (Symposium)

The death penalty we’re still carrying.
As North Carolina marks 20 years with no executions, this symposium reflects on the legacy of the death penalty and the future we are already building.
Hosted by the NC Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty, the afternoon will feature panel discussions with experts and directly impacted people exploring the far-reaching impacts of the death penalty, community-centered responses to harm and violence, and the stories that have shaped the movement to end executions in North Carolina.
These conversations will consider what it means for North Carolina to live in the reality of a post-execution era while continuing to carry the legacy and ever-present threat of the machinery of the death penalty.
Additional details will be added as the event approaches, including information about speakers, the program schedule, accessibility, parking, and other logistics.
