CELEBRATING COMMUNITY: CREATING A NEW VISION OF JUSTICE

August 19, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us for food and fellowship as we conclude our week of events marking 16 years of no executions in North Carolina. We will gather at Pullen Park (Shelter #4) for a potluck and program at 6 pm. NCCADP Community Engagement Coordinator, Nick Courmon, will emcee our evening and share “Poison Fruit”, a spoken word piece he wrote to commemorate this 16th anniversary. Speakers include Kristie Puckett-Williams, Deputy Director for Empowerment and Engagement of ACLU, and Lynda Simmons, a restorative justice advocate who lost her son to homicide. We will also welcome a new NCCADP partner organization, and throughout the evening we will imagine and commit to a future with no death penalty in our state. We hope to see you in person and promise you will leave feeling inspired!

This event is free but please let us know you’re coming. RSVP by 8/17. NCCADP will provide deli sandwiches and drinks. We invite you to bring a side dish or dessert if possible. Please email  NickCourmon@nccadp.org with any questions. Please note, unfortunately the restrooms at Pullen Park will close at 6 pm.
