Racist Roots Film Screening & Community Conversation

You are invited to join the NC Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty for a screening of Racist Roots, a 25-minute film that uncovers the deep entanglement between white supremacy, racial terror lynching, and North Carolina’s death penalty. This screening is hosted by First Baptist Church Burnsville.

Following the film, hear from Lynda Simmons, a restorative justice practitioner and mental health specialist, whose life has been profoundly shaped by losing her son to homicide.

This conversation will be moderated by NCCADP’s executive director, Noel Nickle, and will include time for Q&A.

This event is free and open to the public. The program begins at 11:30 AM, with a potluck meal graciously provided by the congregation. Feel free to bring a dish!
