Racist Roots Screening and Panel Discussion at Myers Park Baptist Church in Charlotte

Join us Sunday, June 23rd at 3:30 pm at Myers Park Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC for The Racist Roots of NC’s death penalty and the Commutation Campaign to end it! Racist Roots is a powerful 25-minute film that reveals North Carolina death penalty’s deep entanglement with slavery, lynching, and racism. Panelists include Henderson Hill, a death penalty attorney who has represented clients that were executed by the state of NC and Alfred Rivera, an NC death row exoneree. The evening will conclude with a call to action to write Gov. Cooper asking him to commute all death sentences.

This event is presented by the North Carolina Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty in partnership with The Dignity and Decarceration Project at Myers Park Baptist Church. Racist Roots is a project of the Center for Death Penalty Litigation.
