NC Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty
Committed to ending the death penalty and creating a new vision of justice
Please join the North Carolina Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (NCCADP) on Friday, October 4th, at 6:30 p.m. for a screening of the film “Racist Roots” at Mt. Bright Baptist Church (211 W Union St. Hillsborough, NC 27727.) “Racist Roots” is a powerful 25-minute film that reveals North Carolina’s death penalty’s deep entanglement with slavery, lynching and racism. Following the film, author and pastor, Dewey Williams, will offer remarks entitled “Joy in Abolition.” There will also be a community potluck prior to the program at 6 pm. Please sign up for the potluck here. Special thanks to the Orange County Community Remembrance Coalition and Mt. Bright Church for hosting this event.
This event is part of NCCADP’s 136-mile Walk for Commutation, calling on Governor Cooper to commute all death sentences. Participants will have the opportunity to write postcards to the Governor. Find more information about the Walk for Commutation here and sign up to walk in Greensboro with NCCADP at this link.
