In the face of an inhuman system, these people choose healing & compassion

Oct 7, 2026
Christa Pike's execution exposed the inhumanity of the death penalty. On World Day Against the Death Penalty, we will learn from four exceptional people who have chosen a path toward healing in the midst of a cruel system. Join us for a conversation with a man exonerated from death row, two people who lost loved ones to murder, and a mother whose son spent decades on NC's death row.

We at the NC Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty watched in horror this week as Tennessee carried out yet another torturous failed execution. State officials injected Christa Pike with multiple doses of lethal drugs before finally giving up as she writhed and called out in pain.
