NC Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty
Committed to ending the death penalty and creating a new vision of justice
The evening will use the powerful film Racist Roots as a context for panel discussion followed by Q&A. Panelists will include Julia Millar, an anti-death penalty organizer guided by her Jewish values; Alfred Rivera, a Muslim who spent 2 years on NC’s death row before he was exonerated, and Frank Goldsmith, a former civil rights and capital defense attorney and leader in the Asheville Jewish community. Noel Nickle, NCCADP’s Executive Director will moderate the panel.
In addition to NCCADP, co-hosts for the event include: Congregation Beth Israel, Congregation Beth HaTephila, Carolina Jews for Justice, and the Center for Death Penalty Litigation, who created the Racist Roots film project. This is a free event open to anyone to attend. However you are asked to register here so we can plan accordingly for snacks.
