You are invited to join us outside the Forsyth County Courthouse (175 N Chestnut St) at 10 am on Thursday, September 26th, as we begin our 136-mile Walk for Commutation. Speakers for the kick off include Imam Khalid Griggs, of the Community Mosque of Winston-Salem; Rev. Hillary Taylor, executive director of South Carolinians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty; Brenda Hooks, the mother of a Black man who was sentenced to death in Forsyth County; and Jean Parks, whose sister was murdered in Raleigh.
Immediately following the speakers we will begin our walk, crossing the street to the jail for our first stop. You are welcome to leave from the jail or continue walking with us for as much of the day as you like. Please complete
this google form for updates if you would like to walk. Also please see the flyer and additional event information about our Racist Roots film screening at 6:30 p.m. that evening in Winston-Salem.
