We are now less than two weeks away from the NCCAD

We are now less than two weeks away from the NCCADP Spring Statewide Coalition Meeting!

Four times a year we gather with our organizational partners and people across the state to strengthen our work and deepen our relationships to end the death penalty in North Carolina.

At this meeting, we will continue to discuss the current phase of our Commutations Campaign: our very successful Postcard Campaign! We will also begin discussions for an engaging in-person event during the fall! If you’re new to our movement, we encourage you to attend an info session in advance, but all are welcome to our statewide meetings!

Our Monthly Info Session for May is TODAY!

Join us for an hour-long online conversation to learn more about the state of the death penalty in North Carolina, the work of NCCADP, and how you can get involved. If you want to volunteer or simply connect with others across the state interested in abolishing the death penalty, this is the place to start!

We will be discussing our ongoing Postcard Campaign, upcoming Commutation Community Conversation events, and more!

We are happy to announce that Andre Smith will be

We are happy to announce that Andre Smith will be one of our panelists at the Racist Roots film screening and discussion that we are hosting at Omni Cinemas in Fayetteville next Thursday, May 23rd from 6:30 to 8:30pm, in collaboration with @fayettevillepact and @voteriders!

Andre has many years of experience teaching anger management and Buddhist meditation to incarcerated people. He has been a volunteer teacher and mentor at Nash Correctional since 2006. Andre’s opposition to the death penalty is rooted in his love for his son Daniel, known as Peace to his friends and family. Peace passed away in 2007 after a violent altercation at a Raleigh nightclub.

Very soon after losing Peace, Andre forgave the man responsible. Andre often references his path to forgiveness and acknowledges it as the only way he can experience contentment. As a Buddhist, he believes that all humans contain goodness and are capable of transformation.

Come share space with us and hear directly from Andre about his opposition to the death penalty next Thursday night in Fayetteville!
